It’s shocking to see how the whole narrative has been skewed. Blaming global inequality on colonial institutions is a shame

People like a way and way of thinking, take Russia from the 19-21 century they changed 3 times systems and intuitions but they still think and work like they did in the time of the char.

I find it overly simplistic to claim that the colonizers of what is now the United States created conditions for greater prosperity, when in fact they established systems of slavery and eradicated the existing populations.

At the same time, the video claims that the Spanish practiced a purely extractive economy — when in reality, they built cities, cathedrals, universities, and laid the foundations for institutions aimed at long-term development. If their sole interest had been extracting wealth, why would they have invested so much time and effort in building complex and lasting civilizations?

I wonder what DW News and the Nobel Prize winner think of the fundamental human rights, the rule of international law and inclusiveness toward Palestinian people under occupation by Israel for over 7 decades. Maybe being recognized as humans who should have their human rights safeguarded by the state and their sovereignty respected would be a good start.

The Americans, bureaucratic institutions had become corrupted by the Democratic Parties global socialist agenda. They d*** near bankrupt the country.
Trump is dismantling these national institutions and returning power to the states and to the people.
Trump is not creating a dictatorship, but a renaissance. It's no wonder the European global socialist governments hate Trump so much.

On my opinion the cause of prosperity btw nations is the same btw individuals: mentality. Read, work, virtue, wisdom. Many things you xplain in doc are not true. Today is not Capitalism, but Canibalism.

Well I mean this book seems like a thing built on causation = correlation. Which is not always true.

Then what explains China’s model ? Is the answer simple – One Size Doesn’t Fit All? What might fit us in Europe might not work for a country in Asia ?

@SK-fd8kw March 27, 2025 - 3:25 pm

The civil rights movements was an attempt to “abolish the extractive institutions of the US South” seems like an odd interpretation. What was being extracted, exactly?

The Jim Crow south was an apartheid project. 20th century racist whites wanted to be separate. Seems like a reach to describe it in terms of exploitation.

Seems like the stretching of a Marx-like exploitation story.

Once again, a German news channel deflecting attention away from their own issues. Fix Germany, then judge others….

Sorry world! The lies and hypocrisy have reached a mindboggling level in America. This shall pass. United, show resolute and do not take the bulling. Inequality? We have a lot of that to be fixed within America before we can blame other countries.

All the places suggested in the theory have a lot nuances. If you happen to become a US ally after WWII no matter where you live you have high chance of winning. For Australia, the US and Canada, they have one thing in common: eradicate native people, bring slaves and do the work. To build institutions you need money. Most of the time all supper powers didn't get ALL their money in a clean way. They either got slaves, or through wars and occupations among other illegal means.

@unifiedvision999 March 27, 2025 - 3:25 pm

Only in the last couple of hundred years has there been anything approaching true democracy, or a decent life for the masses. It's always been dog eat dog, wars abd hatreds. We could renounce it, but it would have to be a worldwide movement, and many of us would have to sacrifice our lives. Wealth would have to be redistributed. Since evidence would suggest that we're too selfish to do such a thing, the End is indeed here…and we deserve it.
