@treaty8631 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Tarrifs if canada doesnt become a 51st state…which we have zero choice over otherwise we can not defend our northern border…period

@treaty8631 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

So many questions
Did Ukraine start the war…Putin said they pointed tomahawk missiles at Russia…ok so if it did…why…to start this whole war process…so that the usa could cash in one day….if not why would Putin go in …they hadn't before…thats the first question ❓ that needs to be answered correctly…where tarrifs are concerned…why did canada put all its eggs in ine basket???they did a Venezuela move?

…Stretching amortization is not a solution. Home prices are unrealistic and overvalued. Interest rates are not "high" they are historically low. People were buying homes like crazy in the early 90's with 15% interest rates because the prices were actually affordable vs median income.

Stop talking about everything but the problem. Prices being 12x+ the median income is the issue. Nothing else. Either prices go down or incomes go up A LOT.

@fahmy5365 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Obviously, we Canadians are nothing but followers and we have to satisfy our boss in the US. It’s obvious despite all the retaliatory hollow statements.

@Proudcanadian548 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Canada has to feel ashamed, we as a country have to curb illegal immigration and drug trafficking from day 1. Why the hell we didn’t do this until trump pointed out/until trump pushed hard on canada ? Why the hell we want someone to point us out. It’s a Shame!

@hiltonwatkins6750 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Chaos seems to be the most identifiable product from the Trump administration so far…😮

@WMCMILLIN March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

I'm glad to hear that youve enabled the comment section. Cause there's no confusion here. We'll eventually have to join the US. It makes sense both geoeconomicly and geostrategicly just not emotionally. Trump's been right about everything, and this deserves proper debate. Just wait and see what our beloved King has to say.

@paulgram3967 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

100 percent tarifs against Governor Trump

@ScrawneyRonnie March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

relax. we'll adjust. i would rather see america and russia making deals than seeing them bombing each other. trump has succeeded in getting everyone's attention

@philipdennis2997 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Who even watches this crap

@scottcraig2569 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Maybe ending supply management can get up out of this? Paying half the price for dairy would be nice too. But its Quebec issue so our spinless government would rather burn down the rest of Canada before angering the frogs.

@PositiveMind.23 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Canadians cannot even sell to fellow Canadians in other provinces and we don't see this as confusion. I don't know of any other country in the world that operates like this. Aren't we unique?

@solangeherault7038 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

I just don’t trust him

@FrankLynn-g5m March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

If Canada does not eliminate inter-provincial trade barriers and create new trade agreements with S-AM, ASEAN, ASIA and EU we are the SUCKERS! Cut the US out of the picture…they are no longer reliable!

@OmniScienti March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

The US is the “richest” country on the planet because their system values money more than humanity! More than peace! More than conscience! In an economy of humanism, their value is dropping by the day!

@DannyBoy-v5w March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

We need to slap an idiot tax on all american goods. We dont want their garbage.

@Bokkerv March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

@mastertech9680 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Rather than waiting for this lunatic to impose tariffs, Canada should impose sanctions on the US, but Tiredo and his regime are corrupt and spinless to do so.

@98pre March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Yes don't react to confused guy. Let's get the hit; Find new market and permanently move!!!

Trump is suffering from dementia.

@alipennington3764 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

This is not addressing the tariff statement but if any staffers are reading this I just want to take the opportunity with comments on to thank the cbc for being one of the last few bastions of news and freedom of information as a Nova Scotian.

Especially in the face of the acquisition of pretty much all local news in the maritimes during the pandemic, and the later resale to the American post media. As well as we’re facing an active misinformation and campaign of restricting the freedom of information and accountability of the provincial government, BY THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT (lol), we need cbc more then ever on the east coast.

Thanks for everything you guys do and have been doing for the last 90 years at cbc
Some of us do still appreciate all that you guys do 🥲🥲

@ArgentumEssence March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Another brilliant politician. The first one has been capturing Kyiv in three days for three years now. This same one managed to ruin relations with all the countries surrounding the United States in three days.

@thomasstephens7293 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Trump is a Tarrifist…

@NB-xd2lb March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

USA is a shame country now !

@alipennington3764 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Question about the tariffs, what is the potential possibility that the majority of these tarring talks are merely a misdirection (as trump has clearly shown that he has no spine or consistency in regards to his tariff decisions) and if anyone has any ideas in regards to what the current American leaders are using misdirection to distract Canadian citizens and leaders from.

Another question that may be too unrelated to the topic at hand, but regarding sustainability and Canadians supporting Canadian businesses, what are ways that we as average people can better support growing our own economy and invest in Canadian owned business/companies and Canadian futures in ways other then with buying power to keep the momentum going. Interprovincial trade should definitely be improved by provincial and federal government as a response to poor trade negotiations with the U.S., but what else can we do besides buying Canadian to help Canadian companies either grow or start up to replace the dependency on good only sourced outside of the country.

@christineacalderbank March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

LOCK TRUMP UP!! He’s a convicted criminal… hoping to steal EVERYTHING he can… Putin probably wants the minerals also.. Probably Trump & Putin wants to divide the mineral wealth!!

@laid07 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Man, Trump is the man!

@christineacalderbank March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Trump is just a BULLY.. Call his bluff!!

@uncle_ray9685 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

and our so called "Canadian" companies / retailers are going to raise prices for no reasons gouging us all again and again, they are as corrupt as these fake tarrifs to get Trudeau out of office are…

Ain't no better person to screw a Canadian than another Canadian… these Canadian companies/corporations are no better than their American counterpart.

Don't just say it and pretend, close the borders, get rid of illegals, stop the drugs and secure the border and stop MASS RIDICULOUS immigration… but no Trudeau at this point is just an outclassed emotional bag of nonsense leading us into financial insecurity because Trump makes him look foolish and his sensitive ego is hurt…

@EM-oe1to March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

All countries should stand against the United States, a trade and protection alliance should be created, with strict and concrete rules, contracts signed by countries and unions such as: EU, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Turkey, Mexico, South American countries, India, Pakistan, etc. (don't feel offended if you don't find your countries on this list, it wasn't intentional).

@4zena March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

Wow I never thought in my life time I would see an American "President" in bed with a Russian "President".

@scottcraig2569 March 1, 2025 - 4:30 pm

If we prevent drugs and terrorists from crossing the border the tariffs won’t be enforced. Why do the liberals and the CBC not understand that?
