If we get that land we would have more security against any attacks that’s goood thing for us and also green land would be more stable as a state or land if it was the US in the first place only thing I would understand that paying for health care is a new low

You rob a bank and tell the depositors that you are doing it to protect their money? An aggressor cannot be a protector at the same time. All these American news outlet keep giving excuses why this is important…just shut up. Russia and China as excuses for robbing other countries? But you are the one invading. CNBC can you stop promoting this insane propaganda with the so called experts. A thief is a thief by any name.

"Since the 19th century, the United States has considered, and made, several attempts to purchase the island of Greenland from Denmark, as it did with the Danish West Indies in 1917. There were notable internal discussions within the U.S. federal government about acquiring Greenland in 1867, 1910, 1946, 1955, 2019, and 2025, and acquisition has been advocated by American secretaries of state William H. Seward and James F. Byrnes, privately by Vice President Nelson Rockefeller, and publicly by President Donald Trump, among others."

~ Wiki-Proposed United States Acquisition of Greenland

Btw TRUMP isn't buying Greenland.
The US wants to ACQUIRE it…..for a long, long time now.

@explorermike19 March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

Actually most of the United States was acquired through purchases such as the Louisiana Purchase and Alaska. Both were controvercial at the time.

NORTH AMERICA – GREENLAND: from a United States of American’s citizen’s perspective, Greenland and Denmark lost their sovereignty in 1940 when Nazi Germany (A European nation) conquered Denmark. The USA stepped up and in 1941, built many air bases throughout north and south Greenland to counter the Nazi Germans, their U Boats and other warcraft. At the time the USA was providing many shipping convoys of goods to support the British and Europe. Tremendous USA blood, youth, and treasure were spent and then Patton took Berlin. The USA took full sovereignty of Greenland in 1941, from the Nazis by building Thule Air Base and others throughout Greenland and has constantly acclaimed USA’s sovereignty to this day. The USA defended, supplied, and helped feed the Greenlanders during the war and regularly attempts to work with Denmark since the war. The USA retains Greenland’s sovereignty by its by operating our air and space base. The USA’s defense of NORTH AMERICA and the WESTERN HEMISPHERE was established by the 1823 USA MONROE DOCTRINE which prohibits European nations from interference with the Americas. The “USA has consistently offered to purchase Greenland in 1867 and 1910” and “by President Eisenhower” and others; and by President Trump in his first administration, and now in 2025. These consistent displays of sovereignty and leadership is to USA’s consideration since GREENLAND IS NORTH AMERICAN in our WESTERN HEMISPHERE, and is NOT European, or Chinese or Russian. Greenland’s “home rule in 1979” and “an autonomous part of Denmark in 2009,” with only roughly a 56,000 population appears idealistic based on the above USA history and stated sovereignty since 1941. EUROPE, (Except Denmark originally) has no rights or voice in Greenland since none of Europe, Brittian, or Russia ever defended Greenland as the USA did and still does. Again, the USA spent tremendous blood, youth and treasure for that long-standing sovereignty which Americans do not take lightly and do not relinquish per the Monroe Doctrine. Regarding any European nation purchasing Greenland, well, the USA’s 1823 Doctrine guides USA policy. Canada is also North American and the Europeans were removed earlier as well. The USA removed the British in 1770s and 1812… REAL TIME 2025, the USA requires more defense of Greenland and Canada since both Russia, the red Chinese and NOKO communists are all threating our USA lives with hypersonic NUCLEAR missiles and other advanced warfare… They smile and shmooze Europe while threatening to murder USA citizens and culture. This is no joke to Americans. The role of the defense of the entirety of North America since 1776, is still firmly in the USA’s hands, and Greenland is in fact, “vital to US security” (President Trump). This longstanding USA relationship with Greenland and Thule and other air bases, is essential for USA’s VERY SURVIVAL. President Trump has continued the 1941 Greenland USA sovereignty and North America’s defense, as is his responsibility to the USA citizens who unanimously elected his Presidential mandate. The USA still cares for its Greenlander neighbors and protects them and provides for their sustainability whenever needed. Greenlanders are strong and independent peoples, like USA citizens. Through NORAD, the USA also protects Canada, with their well-qualified independent participation. Many of us USA Citizens are of European blood lines, and we respect our shared histories with Europeans, and other cultures. Realistically though, who is to stop a single Russian or Chinese destroyer from killing Greenland's or Canada’s inhabitants and those residing in Thule AFB’s as well? Not Britian, not Europe, not Greenland, not Canada, but only the USA will do so for our North American partners since all of our North American lives depend on USA protection. We will not allow anyone to dictate our future since that is not the American experience. We fellow North Americans appreciate our Greenlander and Canadian neighbors and look forward to more discussion for mutual gain. We also respect Europeans and the British and our other Great allies and continue to support you all militarily as best we USA taxpayers and leaders can. As well defense, we expect reciprocal equal trade between our nations, as is a current driver in our mutual economies, and we are standing up for our businesses and individual taxpayers, unfortunately to the dismay of many others who are charging THE USA excessive tariffs, but that will be worked out too.

You want to steal Greenland’s resources.

This is why do you withhold the security guarantees in Ukraine, although you promised in 94, if they got rid of their nukes.

You abandon your alliances when it is convenient. This is a great shame, and I have even been rooting for you, until now.

-a nato ally.

when a big country gets too powerful, it bullies all small countries. so all small countries should come together and disallow this bully.

@WeldonSnyder March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

No. I am not in agreement with military action to take Greenland. Greenland needs to vote for independence. We would be no better than Russia's Putin.

@andersandersen359 March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

Why does the CNBC uncritically repeat Trump's condescending language on Greenland? In today's world countries cannot be bought. That was a phenomenon belonging to the colonial era. The U.S. itself helped create a new world order after WWII where respect for international borders, sovereignty and self-determination of peoples is absolutely central.

@erik.hansen March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

Greenland isn't 'considered' to be part of the North American Arctic instead of the European Arctic, it IS part of the NA Arctic. Its literal geography, continents and tectonic plates.

"Greenland isn't for sale, it never has been for sale, and never will be for sale." It was certainly for sale when Denmark bought it…

@EllenFogarty March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

Basically taking food away from hungry children so we can buy Greenland. 😮

@Hellodd99 March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

I believe finally Greenland will become 52nd state of USA , becoz both Denmark and Greenland dun have the cards and the most important is NATO does not dare to fight against their boss!

@SamY-r3d March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

If Greenland is smart they’ll get backing from US. Or China and Russia will take over and the people will have no voice.

@jpedfonseca March 29, 2025 - 6:21 pm

If Trump insists on buying Greenland by force, this could well lead to World War III
