I would cry too if a master of my craft complimented me that way. That's huge. EJ is a musician and preformer and has written top 10 hits and classics for many decades, he's a big deal. And that compliment was huge.

Its all opions. Its music. Most the stuff that relates to people from musicians is un intended as your in a moment as something connects. For me as a metallica listener i think there are better songs and albums than nothing else matters and black album but thats more because i related to as a young man then to their ealier stuff. More justice and blanckened for me. Then again they are businessmen..and its worth acting for someoneup to a powerhouse like elton. Even for metallica..or should i say lars comments.

Yeah, James Hetfield is a really cool guy. Everybody likes him. I've never met the master himself but I have seen him play in concert and it was awesome, of course. In Elton John is absolutely right to compliment the music of Metallica take for example the song hero of the day that is one of my favorite songs I was just jamming out to that song yesterday that is a very very good song It has excellent melodies and actually James wrote that. In my opinion that song perfectly blends very heavy metal sound with soft intro with excellent acoustics and James amazing world class vocals which are amazing.

James Hetfield can step on a stage in front of 50,000 or more people and within minutes, a massive army that would follow him anywhere. That is power beyond strength. And it's awesome that James is the kind of guy that likes to use his power to bring people together, so that people can enjoy hanging out together. That's ultimately what music performance is supposed to do, is bring people together so they can have fun. Together.

Lars and James are my personal heroes. I really mean that. My life changed when I heard Metallica for the first time. I owe them my life

The weight that Elton John carries is immense.

@lovick1 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

What an amazing, crazy ride for James and all the boys!!

@Tiangco1 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

If I were Jim Hetfield, my next thought would be "OK, i can die now"

@joekaput747 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

James still being starstruck by the Gods of Rock while becoming a God himself with Metallica…

It never goes away

@ZeidGho November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Sometimes I think James doesn't know how big Metallica is, and how he's the GOAT for so many people

@jimshady2264 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Metallica with a old homosexual, Unbelievable

@DanCarroll1976 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

You did it boys. I lost my father in 94, I saw the band 7 times the year before, twice with him. He loved this song. Dan, Class of 94'

@Gorbe_Nistam_ke November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Why everyone including me hates that drummer guy. Lars? Hes never goving anyone good vibes. Hes fake and been fake from day 1. Nothing about him fits metal. He could be a transexual woman and id say yes thats him. But metal?! No way

When I was in elementary school, I had a lot of problems with depression, trouble making friends, and fitting in. Our school counselor had myself and a few other kids, every week, have a group session to discuss our joint difficulties with self esteem and fitting in.

The first thing we would do is lie down on these soft mats, and the counselor would have us close our eyes and imagine some place peaceful and calming. Then, she would play "Nothing Else Matters" while we were lying there.

Ever since then, and I'm in my 40s now, that song has been one of the most influential songs in my life. Metallica is an incredible band, and they know how to write songs that hit the right spots.

@MattH-wg7ou November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

As much hate as Lars gets (justified or not), he knew when to cover for his bro so they didnt have to hear his voice crack. Good on ya man, knowing when to take the lead like that!

@judithriggs9380 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Congratulations!

@tonnyberben1770 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

The last wake of my mother, nothing else matters was played i think for a good 2 years i couldnt hear that song

And now for me its the greatest tribute to my mother 😊

@vincent7160 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Man, Elton is one of my favorites!! I can listen to his music and it just takes me to another place in time!! Hes a musical genius!!

@luckymchl2074 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

What Elton said is just awesome, and I'm not saying Nothing Else Matters isn't a good tune, but it's far from their best song, and hey James, you wrote Master of Puppets which is the best Metal Album ever written to a large portion of the human population. That to me is what Elton should have said, but I digress. And I mean no disrespect, but "Fade to Black" is their best Ballad, and is a far better song, IMO. Arrangements, timing, Lyrics, the Meaning, the Feel. I believe if Metallica had written Fade to Black exactly how is was for the Black Album, pun intended, LOL, it would have been both a bigger hit, and maybe had kept them on the Heavier path. We could have gotten another Master of Puppets from them in the mid 90's. Instead we got Load? SMH.

@frankolivito9242 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Elton is such a master ,I would weep too!!!!

@sherrilheureux4657 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

@SuzanneCooke-s5n November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

@PceLveHppiness72 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

@jacobread9650 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

james is pure natural talent, lovely to hear

@Eagle2012-3 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

It's the 1st time I've ever seen him be vulnerable 😢❤ It's a beautiful thing.

@lizardlizardliz November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Of course lars can't keep his mouth shut & let James talk

@Alemiha November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Well, gota drop everything and listen to it….again. Thx Elton. Truly.

@peloquin5652 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

@d_no_allyn_86 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Wow that's really cool.. beautiful.

@Milessavestheday November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Everytime I hear nothing else matters it brings back so many memories. I'm trying to learn it on the acoustic right now. Just an incredible sound. Metallica is always at the top of my list of best music ever.

@bmentlow November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

It touched James dearly because as a songwriter and doing this since he was a kid, to have a legendary artist say that about your work is touching.
I’m sure James couldn’t have ever imagined that one day he’d be complimented by Elton who was a huge star when James was a kid. To be respected by a peer is what most songwriters and musicians would love to have.

@darkritual1029 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Wanna hear Elton comment on that… who's that guitarist of a band.. what's the name of that band I think it has poly in the name… no fckn feelings whatsoever, just fast, that's is all, fast. Haha

@The_Crab_Whisperer November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Just a point of clarity.
It's James Hetfield, not James Hatfield.
The guy is a musical legend.
Let's pay him that little bit of respect.

@wendalla9414 November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

💯♥️

@starlitshadows November 5, 2025 - 6:41 pm

Best reaction ever. This is only possible because both these guys are true musicians. James respects Elton's opinion enough that it brought him to tears and Elton has always been able to appreciate good music regardless of what genre it was. Two legends.
