LIVESTREAM | Canada’s next PM? Mark Carney

Wow. You guys are pretty funny to listen to, and I can't say I ever thought I'd be a fan of Anthony Scaramucci (!)… guess I didn't bother to learn any more about him when I associated him with the last presidency of Donald Trump. The only thing I wish Mark Carney had added to his vision of Canada for 2028 is that he sees (not only a stronger military, but a) Canada with a Civil Defence Corps like Sweden, so that everyday citizens at every level can feel prepared for both natural disasters and feel more capable and confident when others threaten our country. I'm a 52-year old stay-at-home Mom — every one of us can play a role, and should. The only other thing I hope Mark Carney and his people are aware of is what author Andrew Potter (On Decline) talked about on CBC, and that was that, underneath the patriotism on display right now in Canada, there's 'rot' (highly recommend his book). Basically, the rot is the product of the embarrassment many of us felt about our history when coming to grips with realities like residential schools–it didn't feel good to feel good about Canada. Not that we shouldn't reckon with our history, but after that initial period, there was a vacuum, where the government could have taken a stronger role saying, yes this happened, and we are still a good country, and we can be good people. That vacuum was filled by a freedom convoy, and people flying Canada flags upside down and off the back of pickup trucks. These are the small but vocal minority of Canadians who look at President Trump and Elon Musk and say 'we should get that here,' and they're the Canadians on social media saying they want to become the 51st State–they're most of the people in the small town of Lillooet, BC, where I grew up, and many other small towns across Canada. Potter identified other sources of rot, including people migrating to Canada but their loyalty extends only so far as what they can get out of coming here (very transactional – this was reflected in surveys where a fairly large percentage of people had this view). So I hope the Carney government will keep these two things in mind (1. Civil Defence alongside a stronger general defence, especially in the North,, and 2. addressing the rot under the current show of patriotism). Please, please, please, I hope someone connected with Mark Carney is thinking of these things.

Scaramucci is a traitor and a turncoat to the American people, along with RNC Michael Steele, Liz Cheney, Mitt and Rona Romney and all the other cowardly Republicans. Their leadership in cooperation with the Republican Party has led America to the current crisis that we are in. Long before Trump, the Republican party was actively gerrymandering and using voter suppression tactics, stacking the courts with crooked judges, and on and on and on. . . But Scaramucci has the nerve to brag about Goldman Sachs.
