Very likely themother is mentally ill….
Oh god…I just randomly remembered her and her audition on AGT a whole decade later…only to find out she's passed. Even though she didn't go far in the competition, I really liked her song. I sometimes still hum it to this day. My deepest condolences to her mother.

I saw Skylar Hicks in concert at Downstairs Live and I took a friend who lost her mother to see her perform. I recently lost my mother and father this past year and in 2020, and today I found myself singing this song missing my own parents. I have chills just hearing about her death, and hearing her voice again brings back so many memories because I relate so much to Skylar… the struggle with mental illness is real, and people take it to the grave without getting treatment. Even with treatment it seems impossible to survive the simplest tasks. May she say hello to Heaven- Rest in peace Skylar Hicks.
Geez man, I remember seeing her audition and instantly falling in love with her as an artist especially since she was just a year older than me. I just found out she passed away. Condolences to her family.
