From the era of 3,000 brutal murders per year in NYC.

@Michael-it6gb March 11, 2025 - 1:32 am

Really? The Police have resources to waste on restoring old cars? 😮

Hmmmmm

@autobug2 March 11, 2025 - 1:32 am

Sorry, but with all due respect to the fallen officer there is nothing 'historic' about an `87 Chevy Caprice police car. There were thousands built and they're still plenty around.

Hill Street Blues…

God bless all the officers that have made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting us the public. God bless the ones that are active and pray for a safe return

I’m happy to see them restoring these old girls. However, you couldn’t pay me to get behind the wheel. I believe that the soul lingers around objects and places that people died in (with the exception of hospitals and ambulances), and they typically don’t like having their place of death messed with.

Hmm, I wonder if DOT broke their balls over only 3 points holding the car on the bed and no fire extinguisher on the bed? Oh wait, they don't have to follow laws, they ARE the law, lol. Smooth move with the upside down j-hook, don't the NYPD tow drivers go to any classes? Amazing what flashing lights and a badge can let you get away with.

@genefogarty5395 March 11, 2025 - 1:32 am

The entire roof is rotted through due to Sandy, that means they never washed any of the salt water off after the storm. Sadly, that car will fall apart as soon as it's being disassembled. The frame is likely paper mache thin and delaminated, I've seen other cars from Sandy and bought a few that were out at Grumman's Calverton yard. Nothing I bought was worth rebuilding, so I just took engines, transmissions and rear ends and scrapped the rest. Had they washed the car out after the storm it would've been doable.
