What's messed up is the majority of that money doesn't go to anyone involved in finding the stones

@cyrlangaming February 16, 2025 - 7:26 pm

Emerald cost $500,000 while miners earn $5 a day. This is how items are so overpriced. Colombia is still a poor country compared to Europeans and Americans, but they are the source of most gems in the world, the only problem Colombia sold those mines to foreign country. If they followed what the Middle-East had done to their oil resererve and didn't sell it to foreign country, Colombia will be rich.

Less than 25 each there. Once polished and sold in America they become worth 100s or thousands.

@3613jeremy February 16, 2025 - 7:26 pm

The problem here is no different then the problems in Africa or anywhere else that has leaders that care about their pockets more then their people's pocket everyone wants to blame the rich investors when the blame should always hold their government accountable
