The Hawaii link is quite obvious, McKinley, tariffs, takeover…
Someone told Trump and he understood only a little bit of the story. He still seems to muse about how "we were so rich … tariffs, tariffs…". He seems to forget that children worked on farms and in coal mines. I'm expecting him to mention child labour as a viable option for all the new factories that will be built in the next few weeks.
Albanese is Italian for Albanian. There are towns such as Spezzano Albanese, found in Calabria, where Albanians settles 500 years ago when fleeing the Ottomans. Arbereshe people are the resulting Albanian ethnic minority in Italy
Great podcast. A week s a long time in Australian politics. Some of the Trump-like rubbish has been walked back by Dutton. The Libs (conservatives in Aust.) have had to throw out plans to axe thousands of public sector jobs and swear off proscribing working from home. I guess Dutton’s polling is looking ugly…
In classic Australian historical mispronunciation tradition we call him Albanese rhymes with easy (on the eyes 😉), but any Italian would tell you that is wrong 😅
Hi needs Greenland because of hi has to have a powerful reason for a 3 term election
Krasnov making all Putin's dreams come true, perhaps?
Really informative from Rory. Vance et al would benefit from listening to this but they would just put their own bizarre spin on it….
Rory – it was not the Dutch who sold the Virgin Islands to the US – it was Denmark
Albo!😂
Australian here, listening 4 days after this went out. There has been a huge backlash to Dutton’s trumpian position, especially when he started talking about getting rid of Australian jobs. There are lots and lots of people who have sucked in the press diet of the ineffectiveness and harm of Labour, but those same people also do not want to lose their jobs or way of life. They see how Trump is ridiculed on the international stage and don’t want to be seen as similar to that. Additionally, we are part of the commonwealth and we have seen how proud and galvanised Canadians have become in the wake of the trump debacle, and I think that has landed with a lot of Aussie people.
There was also footage of Dutton at a christmas party last year with Gina Reinhart where she gave a speech, with a sign around her neck that said “Drill baby drill", urging Australia to be the same as Trump’s America, and Dutton was seen at that christmas party laughing and joking with her. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine whose camp Dutton is in. Aussies do not like to be taken for a fool. By and large we are less tribal too (although that may change).
Both Albanese and Dutton have released their campaign policies and Dutton has mirrored Albanese’s almost exactly except he also promises to give businesses more rights, less tax and also promises to weaken worker’s rights. He has been on the news distancing himself from Trumpian policies, obviously not anticipating how less populist Aussies inherently are. It is going to be a very tightly fought contest and there is talk of a hung parliament. I hope so much Labour win – whilst Albanese has seemed limp at times, our economy has flourished under him, unemployment is back to normal levels and our interest rates are dropping, even though the cost of living and housing crisis continues. It’s going to be a tough one, but dear heavens I dread Dutton getting in. Our lives will be infinitely worse off.
“Albanese”.
FFS, SAY THE E AT THE END!
16:18 – I'm from the Czech Republic, and I can confirm that deep down, we envy the Poles for not flinching in the face of Hitler and fighting to the bitter end.
Czechoslovakia acted rationally and statesmanlike – we gave in to Britain, France, etc., as part of the Munich Agreement. We withdrew our army from the border regions. And we avoided hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Meanwhile, Poland lost everything. And yet, when looking at Poland, most Czechs feel a kind of envy – because they stood their ground in their moment of trial and did not yield to evil.
We bowed to Hitler – and to this day, it has left scars on our national consciousness.
And it’s not just about NATO – even the EU itself, although not a military organization, includes in the Treaty on European Union a so-called mutual defense clause:
“If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power (…)”
(Article 42(7) TEU)
It’s not that this would automatically trigger a military operation – but it couldn’t be ignored. If the US were to seize Greenland, most European states would be bound by two international treaties at once.
Ignoring such a situation would be extremely problematic. If Europe gave in, it would essentially break its spine. A counter-offensive led by European naval forces is hard to imagine.
Our infrastructure is so deeply intertwined with the US that we would face huge difficulties in waging any kind of war: our air forces depend on the F-35, all our systems are linked to NATO, shared intelligence, satellites, encryption protocols… Our entire defense architecture is built on an American foundation.
But diplomatically, culturally, politically, economically – it would erect a new Berlin Wall between us. And even if the next US administration were more “reasonable,” the damage done might not be reversible.
By the way, did you know that there’s a company in the Netherlands that holds a monopoly on EUV lithography used for manufacturing 5nm and 3nm chips? Without this unassuming company – ASML – it is currently impossible to manufacture top-tier chips. And it’s not a technology you can just copy.
Well… that new iPhone might turn out to be a regret. Switching to iOS from Android really couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Of course, the autotune was applied by the producers! Nobody turns up to an audition with their own secret production technology!
It is an Italian name so would be pronounced Alba-nay-zay however even the abc calls him Alba-neezie.
And now Dutton in Australia has done an about-face regarding the work-from-home issue!
Go a bit easy on the edits guys. During Rory’s Greenland lesson we were getting up to six different pictures per sentence. The sound was jumpy in places also. Your audience aren’t TikTokkers. It never used to be like this. Maybe you’ve hired a teenager.
Watch out for the global socialist shape shifters
If you do some research, you will find out that there are some Ukrainian soldiers who were killed by Russians during takeover of Crimea in 2014. Google name Serhiy Kockurin
There's been going on a live Genocide in Palestine for quite a long time, please make a discussion about this.
Trump is trying to shack the international community down like the Mafa ….How many friend will the USA retain after Trump and his poodles have finished …. Maybe the UK she have a look at BRIC’S !

41:13
It's pronounced: Al-bo
like elbow, but with an A
It's pronounced Alban- easy.
Australia is such a robust liberal democracy, that it allows terrorists to intimidated Jews, support mass murder and show up masked in public.
Alban- easy
Love you guys but I joined Fuse a few months ago yet haven’t received any mug, cup, tea cozy or life sized canvas of Rory for my bedroom wall
The Landslide has already happened, Trump is the president
