Emmanuel Macron's current energy policy stands in stark contrast to his past actions. Once responsible for the closure of strategic nuclear power plants like Fessenheim, he now positions himself as a staunch advocate for nuclear energy, particularly at the Artificial Intelligence Summit, arguing that nuclear power is essential to fuel the new digital economy. This shift critiques the ecologist ideology that, in both France and Germany, pushed for the closure of power plants in the name of energy transition.

However, this dual discourse raises significant questions. On one hand, nuclear energy is praised for its stability, low cost, and ability to produce decarbonized and controllable electricity; on the other hand, intermittent renewable energies, heavily subsidized, seem to cost more than they actually yield. These subsidies, which distort the balance of electricity exports, highlight a paradox where support for renewables contributes to weakening the industry.

Thus, the current industrial decline appears partly as a consequence of a hesitant and contradictory policy. Macron, often criticized for being a "belly dancer" who says one thing and does another, illustrates through this shift the errors of past ideological choices and the difficulty of reconciling ecological imperatives with economic demands in a context of fierce international competition.
