If am not wrong, this arrogant guy "I'm the captain now" he just a runner or an associate in this place, the real boss is from India, there are 2 ship cutting yards, behind this wall actually some major player using this place as a toxic dump, some of them are from Turkey and India.
60 minute is just a shadow of the quality it once was,
In the 80's, I was stationed aboard the USS Tuscaloosa LST-1187. We visited Chittagong, Bangladesh in 1984. We were the first US Navy ship to visit since it became a country in 1971. You have not seen poverty until you have seen Bangladesh. I'm not exaggerating. We had sailors from the Bangladesh Navy showing us around. We passed a man sitting at the side of the road with another man lying beside him. The man lying down was dressed up and had a tin cup on his chest. We were told that the man had died and the family could not afford to bury him. The tin cup was for donations to pay for a funeral. Very depressing place.
Oh the horrors, running a torch all day. This is what work looks like people.
no one cares
100 ships a year is actually fuggin nuts
the owner him self is full of bride and corruption.he make 90% of the money and 10% to all the wokers. inviroment disaster for the millions of people ,fish and other creature serounding near the area ,that is the goverment or the people problems ,he says it has nothing to do with him,his job is to release more poison to the beach and the sea in that area. we can see in the goverment who is the actually person that allowed this to happend,do you think there is no coruption??
Its now 2025. Time for an updated view of the industry.
Why doesn't 60 Minutes do a video on the Lithium mines where children work pulling lithium ore out of the ground for EV vehicles.
Tell the environmentalists to pay for the poor countries to have better jobs.
poor folk got poor ways
Oh its the fault of "The West" ? Yawn, so tired of this BS narrative
Like so many things we do to the poorer areas of the world, this is morally and ethically reprehensible that we've turned a blind eye to for years. Somehow, like the owner interviewed, we find ways of justifying the damage we're doing to their air, their water and their children. Sickening!!!
Rich countries drive this work to these locations through regulations.
these men and boys are skilled and tough. making the most of the means and methods they have. rich men and governments are essentially exploiters of poor people and the environment.
In one of the richest countries in the world. How can we allow such
🍯😮🙆♂️
It’s not our fault or business that THEY don’t watch what’s going on. Boo hoo
Environmental disaster and we are the blame
My heart goes out to these poor shipyard workers. Please God make their jobs lighter and safe. God Bless you guys.
I will stop complaining about my own "life", startng . . .NOW.
That ship not worth 14 million for scrap
Child labor , do you understand where they live ? This are not children from Greenwich CT . There is no help , no government, no food , nothing.
Where’s Greta???? 😅😂😅
🤡 🌎
Now USAID won’t be able to provide funds to organize an LBQT dance company for the workers when they’re off duty.
These situations do not exist where the country is not overpopulated. Religions all want high population to expand and so they brainwash them into a state of fear into having large families when they can hardly feed themselves.
That’s crazy they we’re practically given a million dollar business and swindled inside out of it
That stainless steel pays decent
No ships to take apart, no jobs. Perhaps these reporters should lose their jobs.
According to the elitists standards, for one person to live like a king tens of thousands must live in poverty 🤡💩
It is sad, i was on an aircraft carrier that proudly served and now it's gone, there was talk of maybe making it into a museum but it was deemed too expensive, we once spent 102 consecutive days at sea.
Di dunia Jauh dari kata sejahtera, sebab iman mereka layak menempati surga🤲.
Kapitalis menghancurkan humanizem
Just think, we as westerners lament the fact that these people have to work under these conditions and it never occurs to us that they count themselves lucky because they have a job and pull a wage. I do not lament child labor. In countries like these, it's a fact of life. Only when we project out our western sensibilities to people that have no semblance of the life we have, do we lament the realities they face. I consider them lucky as do they.
3:50 no way is that ship only 4,000 tons, gotta be at least 10,000 maybe more .
Well check back in 20 years and see what has changed.
They dont care aboit the workers or the environment all they care about is their pockets its not right but very common in places I travel for work and its sad but true.
Acetylene torch 🔥
Blow torch ?
Bangladesh ships works are very danger
should just remove the hazardous crap then send it over…
Sad to say but if they weren’t working there they might not have a job or toil on a farm for far less.
And how many workers die 😢
Before we get all congratulatory and smug…this guy fought for things to stay the same for him and people just like him. No gay people, no browns. Theres not enough info to be all GOOD ON YOU POPS lol.
Are the US low basic wage workers any better? They have to pay for tax and cars.
You can pick up some good finds, if you show them what you want and aren't too fussy where it came from, although some assembly may be required.
Google says a ton of steel is $800. 800×4000 = $3.2 mio. I don't know why he is rich when he buys that ship for $14 mio.
Stinky smelly affairs the ships aren't much better either 😞
60 Minutes is a dishonest untruthful misinformation spreading propaganda outlet.
I wonder if u could make a floating dry dock and have it transported to the shore on boats. Even if u could improve safety and hazards by 20% that would be a win
6:07 That sound saying everything about difficulty of this work
