I have a very simple food and drink rule….if any product label has more than 3 ingredients or any ingredient I cannot pronounce, I do not buy it. Eat Whole Foods!!!!

"Americans like personal choice!"
YOU CAN HAVE A PLETHORA OF PERSONAL CHOICES WITHOUT BEING POISONED

America is a country with the leading numbers of IBD, inflammatory bowel disease, which according to a lot of research is caused at least partially by food additives. It is a huge problem in Europe, too. I have had it since I was 18. I can say nobody wants it. So if you value your health start cooking your own food, eat less red meat, never touch ultra-processed foods and fast foods again and never drink artificially sweetened drinks and you might save yourself from this horrible disease.

Good additives are named GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe)
Funnily GRAS in French means FAT.

“Processing” is just the latest fashionable bogeyman, but processing isn’t the problem.

America exports 3 things to the world. 1. Food technology to make people sick and addicted. 2. Finance system designed to help the rich and bankrupt the poor. 3. Never ending war

I didn't pay much attention to what I ate until six months ago, but now I'm diabetic.

65% ultra processed? Like omg I never thought it is THAT bad. I'm from germany and have been cooking fresh every day since my childhood. We did have some phases where frozen pizzas were a thing but that was 1 meal of the day at most. Now I can gladly say that maybe 5% of my food is ultra processed and that is mostly my cheat meals or comfort food once in a while. No wonder people are this overweight.

This industry is utterly sociopathic. What they have done to the American diet and health is a crime against humanity.

@LingLing-yb9lb February 17, 2025 - 5:53 pm

We want safe food instead of letting us eat poisoned food that kills Americans!

It's not just food tech. I was looking up Portuguese food on the internet and I've never eaten the food they show. They're showing tourist food. Like francesinha sandwich. It's like cheese and sausage sandich with fries. That is not portuguese. They hardly even eat sandwiches. That's tourist food. Or the Pasta de Nata I've never had that until recently from Costco. They make custard, and things like that. Maybe they sold them in Lisbon. But it's really tourist food. The sweetest candy in portugal is sugar coted almonds. They're kind of terrible because it basically tastes like an almond that someone tried to hide in a candy shell. Portuguese food is super healthy. They mostly cook potatoes boiled or baked. Fish. soup. chicken soup. Sardines are portuguese. That's not fatening at all. They like fried thin porkchop sandwiches. That's healthier than fried chicken or a hamburger because they fry white meat pork in olive oil. It's healthier than sandwich meat.
the
Americans are fat even from home cooking because you load everything with butter. If black people cook collard greens they cover it in butter. They eat corn bread full of butter. A fat dude that used to work with that had health problems said as a kid he would drink the water they cooked the greens in and they filled it with butter. Portuguese food has olive oil, and not much butter. They drink milk. But americans will only eat stuff covered in butter and think that it doesn't taste good unless it is.

I don't like it. It's impossible to lose weight or keep weight off eating like that. eating like americans you get fat as hell quick. If you make like corn on the cob what you do? cover it with butter. You go to the movies and get popcorn, what do you do? cover it with butter. Bake a potato, what do you do? cover it with butter. Get some bread or rolls with your meal and what do you do? cover it with butter. If I eat bread I'll dip in salt and olive oil and that tastes good to me and doesn't make me feel like i'll die. Just that makes a world of difference.

Why is the US population 80% overweight or obese? This is the answer. People have not enough food knowledge. It is also true that we decide on what to eat on daily basis.

Big tobacco has now become big food. All of those tobacco companies-RJ Reynolds and Philip Morris bought Kraft, Nabisco, Procter & Gamble. I’m sure there’s others??

Overeating, alcohol, smoking are the culprits
