How to handle politics at Thanksgiving

In this day and age, it would literally be pretending to tolerate a person who has a belief system that fundamentally disrespects you as a person.

My family shares largely similar political views, and I am very glad for that

Ive always had a small Thanksgiving with people I see nearly everyday so I never had this problem

As a bisexual I’m so done with MAGA, and will have a go at anyone who may well have voted against my rights. I have just unfollowed a “friend” of mine who has just fallen to MAGA a second time (the first was before my brother came out to him, when he constantly screamed about pride month every June but then stopped); he has made it clear that he never stopped hating our kind, and hates us proudly, I will make a $20 bet with my brother that next June he goes right back to his old nonsense. True, the GOP has stopped seriously trying to take away my right to marry who I love NOW, but once project 2025 gains a strong enough foothold mark my words, they WILL start saying the quiet parts out loud about the LGBTQ community so I have every right to be mad about it. And even if they don’t decide our rights need to go and make a serious attempt at it, when did it become a crime for Americans to show compassion towards groups that aren’t you? I am alarmed by this new trend of “I’M not immediately threatened by Trump” followed by a dig at those who might feel so among minority groups, in this country I think such groups need to learn the hard way how much Dems have done to protect them from
the worst of the GOP’s impulses. I also have zero patience left for the people who go “oh he isn’t homophobic, he just refuses to take homophobia seriously, is bought and paid for by that prejudice’s biggest fans and only indulges same-sex-attracted people who kiss the ring and swallow it without complaining”

Here’s an idea. Agree to disagree.
